Submitted by Rider for Carmel
Carmel mayoral candidate Kevin “Woody” Rider has announced he has over $500,000 cash on hand heading into the 2023 Carmel Municipal Primary. The total includes more than $360,000 in contributions in 2022.
“I’ve spent the last few years listening to residents and businesses about what they want to see in Carmel’s next Mayor,” Rider said. “I’m excited and inspired by the momentum my campaign has heading into 2023. I am humbled by the overwhelming support I have received, both financially and from those in the community who are volunteering to get the word out.”
Rider, who officially filed to run for mayor on Jan. 4, continues to be a part of the leadership that has made Carmel successful. Rider says his experience on the City Council, Carmel Plan Commission, years of community service, and being a Carmel business owner give him a perspective for mayor.
“Throughout my professional and public service career, I’ve always been motivated by serving people,” Rider said. “Running for mayor is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. I love the city of Carmel and, for me, serving as mayor is all about solving challenges, proactively planning, and continuing to lead innovation in our city.”
Campaign financial reports are filed in the office of the Hamilton County Clerk as required by Indiana Election Law.

In my successful bid for Carmel city councilor at-large I ran without political backing and with small dollar donors, drawing more votes than Councilor Rider in the general. My strategy was to run on my resume and address issues important to voters, and I see Sue Finkam taking a similar approach. Her private sector executive experience, demonstrated council leadership and thoughtful insights on how to make Carmel a smarter city make her uniquely qualified as our next mayor, and she has my full support.
