May 7, 1963 – June 5, 2021
Ricky Joe Kinkead, 58, Sheridan, passed away on Saturday afternoon, June 5, 2021 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Born May 7, 1963, in Noblesville, he was the son of the late Richard and Jeanette Lois (Godbey) Kinkead.
Ricky was a 1981 graduate of Westfield High School. For a number of years, he worked in the maintenance department for Gander Mountain. After leaving Gander Mountain, he went to work for Carmel Schools, as well as the Sheridan School System, as a part of their respective maintenance departments.
Ricky was a very outgoing person. He was world class jokester who never seemed to know a stranger. He also had a very big heart, always willing to do anything for anybody. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but also loved tinkering around in the garage, working on everything from lawnmowers to cars. A huge NASCAR and drag racing fan, he followed both sports like a man on a mission. Ricky’s true calling however, was being the family grill master.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Melinda Marie Whicker. She and Ricky were married on October 1, 2016. He is also survived by daughters, Catilyn Kinkead (Alex McKinney), Kokomo, Ashley Kinkead, Sheridan, Alexis Kinkead, Sheridan; stepson, Travis Whicker, Sheridan; grandson, Ryder Alexander Kinkead; sister, Teresa Katz (Dan), Dayton, Ohio; brother-in-law, Chris B. Whicker (Gail), Sheridan; his cat, Jack Jack; and by Bandit, the neighborhood raccoon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jeanette Lois (Godbey) Kinkead.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
