State Rep. Kathy Kreag Richardson (R-Noblesville) recently welcomed 19 Hamilton County residents to the Statehouse for Adult Page Day.

“I have truly enjoyed hosting Adult Page Day for 26 straight years,” Richardson said. “With this being my final legislative session serving as a House member, this day was especially meaningful for me. I could not have asked for a better group to spend this time with.”

To start off the day, pages met Richardson and toured the Statehouse. Pages learned about the Capitol building and other important moments in Indiana history. During their visit, pages met and interacted with Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and Secretary of State Connie Lawson, receiving personal tours of their offices.

“I really enjoyed this experience,” Becky McNichols said. “I don’t think I quite understood how efficiently our government runs and how cooperative all branches seem to be with one another. It’s so refreshing to see in today’s political climate.”

After their tour, pages visited with Richardson and discussed legislative issues and happenings in the community before attending legislative proceedings in the House Chamber.

Noblesville residents Steve and Toni Dickover attended seven Adult Page Days together and enjoyed every experience.

“It’s been so fun to witness the government processes that go on in this building every day,” Toni Dickover said. “We’ve loved the opportunity to meet our government officials and see all of the things they’re doing for the good of the state.”

For Carol Ann Johnson and her daughter Jenna Schweikert, it was their first time participating in Adult Page Day and visiting the Statehouse. They both agreed the program taught them a lot about the way our government operates, and Johnson said it provided “. . . a neat glimpse into the workings of our government.”

“This was such a rewarding and educational experience,” Sandy Lynch said. “It was an honor to be a part of Representative Richardson’s last Adult Page Day.”

Lynch is the mother Noblesville High School graduates, Eric Sears, who serves as a senior legislative assistant for four state representatives, and Kevin Sears, Director of Scheduling and Logistics for Holcomb.

“I loved hosting this event over the years,” Richardson said. “I would like to thank the participants from our community who made Adult Page Day an annual success. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I have.”
