September 3, 1948 – October 15, 2021
Richard (Rick) B. Eddy, 73, Carmel, passed away on October 15, 2021. He was born on September 3, 1948 to the late Millard and Louise (Lipscomb) Eddy.
Growing up in Anderson, Ind., Rick was a lover of all sports, but especially baseball, golf, and IU basketball. Rick was a proud Class of 1966 Madison Heights High School graduate and spoke often of games at the Wigwam. He attended the University of Evansville before becoming a member of the inaugural class of the Northwood Institute in West Baden, Ind. He later received a Bachelor’s in Health Administration from Indiana University.
After serving as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy Reserves on Guam during Vietnam, Rick devoted his career to helping others in medical and long-term care environments. Rick spent his later years at CrownPointe of Carmel where he could often be found trading jokes with staff or catching the latest game.
Rick’s fondest memories were competing against his family in legendary battles of Rummikub and Rainy Day Golf on his parents’ lanai where the art of strategic play (aka ‘cheating’) was passed down from generation to generation.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher (Amy) of Indianapolis and Michael (Kelly) of Carmel; brother, Steve (Eileen); four grandchildren; two nieces; and several cousins.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Patty.
