Richard L. Harvey

January 6, 1936 – August 21, 2018

Richard L. Harvey passed away peacefully on Aug. 21, 2018 after a five-year struggle with kidney disease. His loving family was at his side. He was 82 years old and was born on Jan. 6, 1936 in Indianapolis.

He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School then attended Butler University. He was an Army Veteran serving from 1953 to 1959, with most of that time in Okinawa. His work life was in sales of industrial material handling products.

Music was a very important part of Richard’s life. He was a 25+ year member of the Indianapolis Chapter of Barbershop Harmony Society, and he sang with the men’s chorus. He also sang in The Sharpshooters quartet which performed all around the Midwest. He was a faithful member of the Fishers United Methodist Church and previously sang in the choir.

Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sue; his daughters, Susan Parsons, Fishers; and Carol and John Ray, and grandchildren, Devon and Dylan Ray, all of Noblesville.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lester and Kathryn Harvey; sisters, Nancy Ann Harvey and Sally Hunt; and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2018 at Fishers United Methodist Church, 9691 E. 116th St., with a calling from 5 to 7 p.m.
