Richard D. Hadley

October 13, 1946 – February 18, 2024

Richard Hadley, 77, Bloomington, passed away on Sunday, February 18 at his home in Bloomington. He was born on October 13, 1946, to Maryanna (Cline) and Charles D. Hadley in Lebanon, Ind. He was raised in Boxley, Ind. along with five brothers and four sisters.

Richard graduated from Sheridan High School in 1964. He would go on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier during Vietnam. Later, Richard would spend his career in the airline industry, working for Eastern Airlines and Ozark Airlines.

Richard was an Indiana basketball and football enthusiast. He also possessed a love of classic cars, his favorite being the Chevrolet Bel Air. He enjoyed the music of The Doors and Johnny Rivers. He was an avid bike rider and he loved the fresh air of the Appalachian Mountains. Richard had a green thumb as well, loving to dabble in yard scaping and taking great pride in his detailed work.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles, Jim, Michael and Steven, sister Janice, and late wife Wanetta. He is survived by his sisters Diana, Teresa, and Deborah; brother Jean Allen; his three children Eric, Kristin, and Bryan; and stepdaughters Angel and Rachel.

A private graveside service is planned at Boxley Cemetery.
