On Tuesday, Fishers police investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Southeastern Parkway near Isle of Man Boulevard that resulted in the death of a retired Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputy.
Reports indicate the crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. According to accident investigators, evidence at the scene, and witness statements, an ATV operated by James Fetters, 76, Fishers, attempted to cross Southeastern Parkway and was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Fetters was transported to an area hospital by paramedics from the Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Services, but died due to his injuries.
The pickup truck was operated by Terry Wright, 47, Greenfield. Wright was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Fetters, a lifelong Fishers area resident, retired from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department in 2007 after serving nearly 28 years.
