Rep. Spartz (R-Ind.) and Rep. Sherman (D-Calif.) have announced the official reconvening of the CPAs and Accountants Caucus. Originally formed in 2011, the CPAs Caucus focuses its efforts on reforming and revitalizing the American financial system through common-sense fiscal policy and sound budgetary practices.
The CPAs Caucus serves as an informal, bipartisan group of members of Congress who are CPAs and is dedicated to working on solutions to address China’s non-compliance with American auditing standards, reforms to the PCAOB, the compliance burden of federal tax laws, lack of proper budgeting and auditing of the federal government, and recruitment into the accounting profession.

“As a CPA, auditor and finance professional who spent over a decade working in the private sector, I am appalled by the complete absence of any sound finance or fiscal accountability at the federal level,” Rep. Spartz said. “I look forward to co-leading this bi-partisan CPA caucus and working with my colleagues to bring some fiscal responsibility to our federal government.”
“The CPAs Caucus is one of the few truly bipartisan caucuses in Congress. We have been successful in passing legislation. As CPAs we bring a unique approach to fiscal issues,” Rep. Sherman said. “I also look forward to Caucus examining standards for financial reporting and auditing in the private sector, the process around the auditing of federal government agencies, and tax accounting issues.”
