Congresswoman Victoria Spartz introduced a bill on Tuesday to honor fallen Officer Noah Shahnavaz of the Elwood Police Department. She was joined by all members of Indiana’s Congressional delegation.

“Noah was a true hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,” Rep. Spartz said. “We must always remember the fallen and carry on the torch of freedom.”

Before his service in law enforcement, Officer Shahnavaz was a sergeant in the United States Army, serving with the 591st Military Police Company and deploying to the Middle East during the Global War on Terror.

The legislation renames the post office at 119 N. Anderson St., Elwood, as the “Officer Noah Jacob Shahnavaz Post Office Building.”
