Rep. Spartz calls for submissions for Congressional Art Competition

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.-05) has announced the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. Started in 1982 by the U.S. House of Representatives, this annual competition highlights high school students’ artistic works from across the country.

“Indiana’s Fifth District is full of talented artists, and I encourage interested high school students to participate in this year’s Congressional Art Competition,” Rep. Spartz said. “Art is a valuable part of education and I am pleased to host this program again this year.”

The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students in our District. The winning artwork of our district’s competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on the Congressional Art Competition webpage.

The first-place winner’s submission will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, along with other winners nationwide for one year.

Johnathan Pyle, a senior at Madison-Grant High School in Fairmount, Ind., won first place in last year’s competition with his work titled “Indiana Glass Bottles on a Counter.”
