State Rep. Tony Cook (R-Cicero) recently received the House Legislator of the Year award from the Indiana School Counselor Association for his legislative advocacy on behalf of Hoosier students and schools.
Cook, a former school teacher and administrator who now serves as a member of the House Education Committee, championed several new laws protecting student athletes, increasing transparency for student test results, and improving student access to mental and behavioral health services.
“I remain passionate and attentive to the needs of our schools,” Cook said. “Whether it’s connecting students with professional mental health services, removing regulations put on educators or promoting civics education, we’re always working toward strengthening our education system for all.”
Cook joined the Indiana General Assembly in 2012 and represents House District 32. In addition to serving on the House Education Committee, Cook chairs the Statutory Committee on Ethics, and is a member of the House Committee on Family, Children and Human Affairs, and the House Judiciary Committee.
