Scott O’Neil, a Business Development Representative at OfficeWorks, will put up a fight for a charitable cause on Friday, Oct. 11 at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis. A boxing fundraising event, ‘Ringside: A Fight for Kids,’ is put on by NAIOP (The Commercial Real Estate Development Association).

The event will feature NAIOP members, professionals in the commercial real estate space, competing against each other, both inside and outside the ring. Each boxer is asked to raise funds as well. The Charley Foundation will disburse the funds, and the money will go towards assisting disabled and underprivileged children served by medical, recreational and care groups in the Indianapolis area.

O’Neil, a NAIOP board member, introduced the idea to the organization after attending ‘Rumble on the Row,’ a similar concept that takes place in Nashville, Tenn.

“I’m fully invested in making this an annual event,” said O’Neil. “For me, that means raising as much money as possible to ensure year one is a success. At the end of the day, all that matters is helping out local charities that do great work.”

The boxers who commit to spar on event night, go through a grueling 12-week training process. O’Neil has been preparing by eating a strict diet and training his boxing and reflex muscles. In his trainer’s eyes, he is ‘no different’ than a professional boxer they would train. O’Neil has even taken a few painful hits, but that will only better prepare him for the big night.

The following three-round boxing matches are scheduled: Huston Spencer (Avison Young) takes on Scott O’Neil (OfficeWorks); Joe Dickerson (CBRE) goes glove-to-glove with Colton Snodgrass (Halakar); and Alex Nulf (Marcus and Millichap) squares off with Aaron Kuroiwa (Marcus and Millichap).

At present date, O’Neil has outraised every other boxer in the event. He has raised almost $19,000. You can purchase tickets to see O’Neil box on Friday. You can’t miss him; he’ll be wearing white and gold sequined trunks.
