Dear Editor:
Considering further how we are a very divided nation – my most recent letter brought up the notion that there really are two separate realities; two belief systems, if you will. And on each side of the equation, people are thoroughly convinced that their side is totally correct and is the only way to think. (Equation is probably the wrong word to use – there is no equaling here.)
Of course, it is impossible for both sides to possess any level of correctness because the differences are so immense and bitter.
The kicker is that there is no longer a pervasive truth to guide any of the beliefs.
Truth has lost its way and has become whatever we say it is. News programs, at least in the discussion sections, give out widely (and wildly) differing takes on events. Societal differences are often bolstered by made up facts or at the least, convenient study results. Polls are often conducted using queries that readily obtain the hoped-for conclusions.
Truth no longer matters – it’s what you believe that counts.
Again, I ask: how will we ever correct this untenable situation? When will truth return to our country’s mindset? Or will it just always be this way?

For starters, the news Media and reporters need to give only the facts and not their opinions. They also need to stop using negative descriptions as well. I watch several TV stations and notice that the reporters do not give enough information leaving many questions to be answered. And in direct discussions between two people, the interviewer needs to stop interrupting the interviewee. Be a good listener and allow the person to complete their sentence and or idea or the issue.
‘Alternative facts’. Mr. Bedlam
Recall that phrase & the specifics of what it was referring to ?
