Reader sheds light on ‘South Side gem’

Dear Editor,

In the Friday, Dec. 7 issue of the Hamilton County Reporter, a wonderful article was published by Amy Shankland highlighting the South Side of Noblesville. (See “Pride in the South Side” on the cover page and page two of that edition.) I really enjoyed the piece, as I live in the James Place development on the South Side, and I want to thank Amy for taking the time to write the article.

However, the ‘gem of the South Side’ was not mentioned in the article, so I would like to give a shout out to the St. Vincent de Paul On Trend Thrift Store at 1391 Greenfield Ave.

It may be that few people realize that the store serves everyone who wishes to shop there, although with extended hours now (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday; and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday) we are greeting more and more people from around the county that come in to browse and usually purchase items.

There are many items of interest in the store, and we also have a presence on eBay, accessed from our website, svdpnoblesville.org, where we sell upscale items that come to us.

We are proud to say that sales in our thrift store support the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and financial assistance outreach, which serves all of Hamilton County.

We are also happy to say that we have 200 volunteers that keep our operation running smoothly. We are blessed with many people who send in their donations of food, clothing and furniture/household goods, many of which are new or nearly new.

We hope members of the community will stop by to see if we have that perfect item they have been looking for! It happens! And remember: We feed people!

Sincerely,

Marilyn Doll
