Quick look at June events and issues

Noblesville’s newest roundabout will get underway soon at Cumberland Road and Field Drive near Noblesville High School, with construction beginning immediately after the end of the school year next week. The intersection will be closed for eight weeks, and open by the start of school Aug. 1.

Clay Township Democrats will caucus June 26 to choose the party’s candidate for mayor of Carmel and possibly a city council candidate, says County Chairman Joe Weingarten. Democrats have until June 30 to fill their ticket for the November general election, but no new candidates are expected in other municipalities.

County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt will speak at the June 19 meeting of the County Republican Breakfast Club updating members and guests on current county projects and upcoming plans. The breakfast meeting will be held at Bridgewater Clubhouse near Westfield.

The Cool Creek Summer Concert Series begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14. Sponsored by the Hamilton County Parks Department, the series of six outdoor concerts is held annually at Cool Creek Park, located just east of U.S. 31 at 151st Street. Admission is $5.

Test borings are being conducted through downtown Noblesville. The object of the drilling is to measure any ground water contamination coming from places of business that may have had seepage of chemicals into the soil. The test wells will be monitored from time to time with results going to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
