This July 4, you can be part of setting a world record.
The Carmel Fire Auxiliary is attempting to set a world record for the most people wearing red plastic fire helmets. A large part of the Carmel Fire Auxiliary is community outreach and positive impacts. The goal in setting this world record is to bring the whole community of Carmel together in a zany, fun way.
Renee L. Butts, Public Education Officer for the Carmel Fire Department, explained: “By hosting this fun event we believe it will be a creative way to unify the community while having an exciting and enjoyable event for all to participate in. This event is all inclusive as it includes all ages, genders, and walks of life. Everyone is welcome to participate. We look forward to uniting Carmel as ONE – one setting a world record!”
Here’s how it works: folks are invited to head out to the CarmelFest Parade route the morning of July 4. See a map of the route at CarmelFest.net/parade.
From 9 to 10 a.m., parade volunteers in neon shirts will hand out red plastic fire helmets to every person in attendance. At 10:05, all spectators will take a step out into the parade route. (Don’t worry. The route will be completely blocked off and safe). A drone will then fly over, filming all the participants.
Guests will then return to their seats to prepare for the parade which begins at 10:30 a.m. The parade is one of Carmel’s largest events and always provides wonderful displays of patriotism. You don’t want to miss the annual parade, and you definitely don’t want to miss this opportunity to be part of a world record.

The Carmel Fire Auxiliary does amazing work in and around the Carmel Community. The organization does community outreach in a variety of ways, including Carmel Community AEDs, Safe Haven Baby Box, Community Assistance Program, Hoosier Burn Camp, Ryan’s Toy Drive, and the Indiana Diaper Bank.
The Auxiliary’s mission is to create, support, and improve outreach programs that enhance the Carmel community, ensuring a positive environment for growth. Events like this world record attempt allow the Auxiliary to meet that goal. So, help the Auxiliary set that world record for the most red fire helmets worn in a parade this July 4.
