Independence Village of Zionsville West to participate in 2024 Plane Pull Challenge to support Special Olympics Indiana

Independence Village of Zionsville West is participating in the 2024 Plane Pull Challenge hosted by Special Olympics Indiana. The event will take place at the Indianapolis International Airport Postal Hub on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Event Schedule

  • 8:30 a.m. – Opening ceremony
  • 9 a.m. – Competition begins
  • 11 a.m. – Halftime ceremony
  • 11:30 a.m. – Kids Pull
  • Noon – Competition resumes

The senior living community is honored to support Special Olympics Indiana by participating in the Plane Pull Challenge. The team, comprised of staff and residents, is preparing to pull a FedEx Boeing 757 aircraft, which weighs over 164,000 pounds, a distance of 12 feet. Their goal is to achieve the fastest overall time and actively raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes across Indiana in the weeks leading up to the event.

The Plane Pull Challenge is an exciting and unique fundraising event where teams of up to 20 people pull a FedEx Boeing 757 aircraft. All funds raised through the Plane Pull Challenge support the Special Olympics Indiana. The nonprofit uses sports, health, education, and leadership programs to end discrimination against and empower people with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1969, it has grown to include more than 19,000 athletes and Unified partners, supported by over 10,000 coaches and volunteers throughout the state.
