A total of 200 people boarded the Nickel Plate Express on Feb. 11 and 12, 2023, only to exit the train on the exact same dates in 1984 at the Nickel Plate High School prom. It was a night of big hair, bright colors, music, murder, and mayhem!
The Prom Night Murder Express was a little bit of everything: a train ride through beautiful northern Hamilton County, a catered dinner, live music, a mystery to solve, and a fine excuse to relive the decade of decadence.
A band rivalry played on stage and almost came to blows, jealousies flared, affairs were revealed, alcohol was consumed, and a star quarterback was killed – twice!
Special thanks go out to our friends at Earthly Endearments, 155 W. Main St., Atlanta, for providing the perfect venue for dinner and death. Gaylor Electric President and CEO Chuck Goodrich and Tom Wood Volkswagen Noblesville made sure every passenger had a special 1984 edition of The Reporter filled with news and clues. Pasto Italiano, 3150 E. State Road 32, Westfield, was kind enough to provide gift certificates for super sleuths each night. Noblesville Trophies, 1720 S. 10th St., Noblesville, helped with the football trophy turned murder weapon each night.
This sold-out time-travel event was a huge hit, as you will see from all the fun photos below.
The next Murder Express will be held in late June, but since our flux capacitor is out of power, we will be staying in the current decade and traveling to Hawaii for a luau murder mystery where every passenger is guaranteed to get lei’d.
