The Total Solar Eclipse will take place at 3:06 p.m. on Monday, April 8. Many area businesses and non-profits plan to host events during that time.
Here are the top things for businesses to remember when planning a 2024 Total Solar Eclipse gathering:
- Totality begins at 3:06 p.m., lasting for three or more minutes.
- Traffic will be greatly increased throughout the day of the Eclipse.
- Area schools are closed that day, so crowds will be busier than a normal Monday.
- Pre-purchased or ticketed events to understand size of the gathering.
- Have food and beverage to last for the group for a long day.
- Encourage all pre-sale purchases to GAS (or charge!) UP before arriving to your location.
- Hamilton County Tourism will have welcome and safety yard signs available for public events.
- Create an incident preparedness plan for this (or any!) event – what will you do in various emergency situations.
- Be aware that internet and cell phones may be slow or completely unusable, especially during totality.
- If you will be staffed and outside during the Eclipse, eye safety is very important. Make sure all staff has access to the eye protection.
