Two retiring members of the Hamilton County Visitor and Convention Commission received special recognition Wednesday from County Commissioners.
Donna Prather and Brenda Tolson, who served nearly 20 years on the commission, were awarded the Rampart Award for dedicated and loyal service to the commission.
The commission oversees the county’s tourism development efforts. Its bipartisan membership is appointed by commissioners. The director of tourism is Brenda Myers, who nominated the award recipients.
In other action, commissioners received a proposed ordinance from County Attorney Mike Howard which prohibits placing structures in drainage easements, provides for assessing costs of removal of such structures, and penalties for failure to remove them.
Commissioners voted to allow the City of Carmel to demolish a portion of the Clay Terrace shopping center and rebuild other facilities in its place. Clay Terrace is within a county Tax Increment Financing district.
And, also approved were plats for Artman’s Estates subdivision and a new section of The Enclave at Vermillion.
