Westfield police have arrested a man in connection to a fatal shooting early Tuesday morning near State Road 32 and Ditch Road, in the 1200 block of Scarlett Street.

According to court documents, police have charged Garrick Baker Sr., 48, Westfield, with reckless homicide and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Police say officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Scarlett Street on an unknown medical call around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Upon arrival police found a deceased male with a gunshot wound in his right shoulder.
Hamilton County Coroner John Chalfin identified the victim as Dominic Strain, 18.
Police reporters indicate Baker was handling a loaded gun while intoxicated and accidentally discharged it, hitting the man while he was sleeping on the couch.
