Hamilton Co. Harvest Food Bank gearing up for 2021 spring activities

The 2021 Hamilton County Harvest Virtual Annual Meeting, held on March 16, was a resounding success.

The featured speaker was Emily Weikert Bryant, Executive Director of Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, the network of Feeding America Food Banks in Indiana.  Her topic was “Who is Feeding Hamilton County and What You Can Do to Help.” The Hamilton County Food Support Network was well represented at the event and concluded with a lively Q&A session.

The Food Bank welcomes Michelle Hammes to its Board of Directors as she starts her three-year term. The entire event can be viewed here.

As shared at the meeting, produce distributions from the Food Bank increased by 48 percent in 2020. The Food Bank is hiring an additional part time employee to continue this steady growth in 2021. For more information on this opportunity, contact Anita Hagen at hamiltoncountyharvest@gmail.com.

In the meantime, come out to the Fishers and Noblesville Farmers Market starting May 1. The Food Bank will take donations from the produce vendors at the end of Market every Saturday.

The traditional Mother’s Day weekend Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nationwide Food Drive held by the National Association of Letters Carriers and locally NALC #888, has been postponed until fall.

Summer lunch programs for children across the county will start soon. Kroger and the local police and sheriff departments across Hamilton County will hold the fifth annual Pack the Cruiser Food Drive at all Hamilton County Kroger stores from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5. Be sure to support the program for all with your donations.
