Philip Guy “Phil” Inskeep, 83, Rensselaer, Ind., passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Phil was born in Darlington, Ind., on May 19, 1939, the son of Harry S. and Ruth D. (Durham) Inskeep.
Phil graduated from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1957. Phil was recognized as an All-State Fullback in football in 1956 while at Sheridan High School. He then attended Butler University in Indianapolis.
Phil married the love of his life, Lonna Purdy, on August 22, 1958, in Sheridan. He was a self-employed farmer after working as a swine herdsman for the Rodibaugh family.
Phil enjoyed deer hunting, judging 4-H garden shows, watching his family participate in activities, and helping with the Jasper County Fair Swine Show for 41 years. He judged numerous County Fair 4-H Garden Shows each summer, and as word got around, he was asked to be a judge at the Indiana State Fair Garden Show for several years.
Phil is survived by his wife, Lonna; daughter, Andrea (Russ) Maienbrook; daughter-in-law, Tammy Inskeep; grandchildren, Bryan (Megan), Tiffany (Chad), Bradley (Aimee), Hayden; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Cathy), Larry (Diana); sisters-in-law, Mary Lee, Judy, Betsy, and Jan; and his very close friends, the Rodibaugh family.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory A. Inskeep, DVM; siblings, Harry, Roland, Keith, and Rob, and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call upon the family at Jackson Funeral Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. CT on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. CT on Thursdsay, October 13, 2022, at Jackson Funeral Chapel with brothers, David and Larry officiating. Interment will follow at Weston Cemetery in Rensselaer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jasper County Fair Association/Swine Barn Improvements.
