Phil Waddell, Andy Williamson inducted into Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame

Two men with connections to Hamilton Heights have been inducted into the Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame.
Phil Waddell was inducted as a contributor to Hamilton County Basketball. After completing 25 years of coaching at West Leyden (Ill.), Southmont, Centerville and Tipton high school, Phil served as Athletic Director at Hamilton Heights High School. A graduate and former player at Western High School and the University of Idaho, Phil has continued his love and promoting of basketball throughout his career. While at Hamilton Heights, as a professional and well-organized athletic director, he successfully hosted 48 tournaments and started new programs for student athletes. Phil and his wife Jane reside in Tipton. They have two grown children, Matt and Monica.
Andy Williamson played for Hamilton Heights High School from 1995 to 1998 for Coach Bill Bowen. He scored 1,180 career points. Andy was a member of the Rangeline Conference championship team and was named Outstanding Contributor to the Husky basketball team in ’96, ’97 and ’98. He was named All-Conference ’96, ’97, ’98, named Hoosier Basketball Magazine Fourth Team All-State ’96-’97, Second Team All-State ’97-’98 and Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 40 Senior Showcase in 1998. Andy played at Indiana State University for Coach Royce Waltman, where the Sycamores won the Missouri Valley Conference Title.
