Pauline H. (King) Hoffman Fox

November 25, 1923 – November 10, 2018

Pauline H. (King) Hoffman Fox, 94, Sheridan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Harbour Manor Health and Living in Noblesville. Born November 25, 1923 at home on the family farm just west of Terhune, she was the daughter of the late Henry Bert and Elzora (Wilson) King.

After graduating from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1941, Pauline continued forward with her education at Indiana Business College. After graduating from I.B.C., she took a position working for International Harvester. After about two years with the company, she would take her leave to focus on raising her family. When the kids were grown, she hired on with VanCamp (which would later become True Value) Hardware, enjoying a long and happy career working in their distribution center offices.

When Pauline had some time to herself, she loved to tend to her garden and look after her flowers. She also enjoyed playing cards with her Euchre Club whenever they could all get together. Pauline had a sharp eye for antiques. She liked looking through stores, trying to find those special hidden gems that you just don’t seem to see very often.

She was a member of the Terhune United Methodist Church and the Boone County Extension Homemakers.

Family was very important to Pauline. She felt very blessed to have such a large extended family to call her very own. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Hadley, Noblesville; daughter-in-law, Marianna Hoffman, Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bradley (Drew), Noblesville, Jessica Hoffman, Jacksonville, Fla., Brian Hoffman (Deanna), Kirklin, and Joanna Gainey (Joe), Sheridan; six great-grandchildren, Waylon Hoffman, Morgan Hoffman, Charlotte Bradley, Willow Bradley, Ella Gainey and Lillian Gainey; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her three step-children, Linda (Steven) Osborne, Sheridan, Robert (Valri) Fox, Sheridan, and Peggy (James) Fairchild, Commiskey; seven step-grandchildren, Scott (Karen) Osborne, Sheridan, Doug Osborne, Sheridan, Kyle (Monica) Osborne, Sheridan, Jennifer (Pat) Marten, Colby, Kan., Cheryl (Colby) King, Commiskey, Bradley Fox, Sheridan, and Kyle Fox, Sheridan; and 10 step-great-grandchildren, Megan Osborne, Allison (Levi) Hiatt, Katie Osborne, Aundrea (Sparky) Inman, Makaila (Pat) Maloney, Keirsten Osborne, Seth Osborne, Presley Fox, Memphis Fox and Jayden King.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Charles A. “Pete” Hoffman; brother, William King; and her two sisters, Kathleen Akard and Patricia Usher.

Pauline was lucky enough to find love twice in her life. On November 26, 1944 she married the love of her life, Charles A. “Chuck” Hoffman. She and Chuck spent 37 wonderful years together and raised a beautiful family. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1980. Pauline married the second love of her life, James Robert “Bob” Fox in September of 1985. Pauline and Bob spent 32 years by each other’s side, greatly increasing the size of the family she loved so very much. Bob passed on December 6, 2017.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from noon until the time of service. Burial will follow at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan. Reverend Frank Ciampa will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the Terhune United Methodist Church.
