Paula Marie Sackers

November 1, 1953 – June 4, 2022

Paula Marie Sackers of Evansville, Ind., passed away on June 4, 2022, after fighting the complications of COVID. She was born in Indianapolis on November 1, 1953, to William and Mildred McCartney. She graduated from Marion-Adams High School. She was awarded Miss Congeniality in the 4-H Fair Pageant during high school. Her career ranged from modeling, insurance, real estate, and a healthcare executive administrative assistant.

Paula’s greatest joy was being a mother, and she loved her son, Greg, immensely. He was her motivation and battled as a warrior in her fight to beat COVID. She had a million-dollar smile and when she would walk in the room she radiated. There was nothing more she wanted than to go back home with him in Evansville, but God took her to His home where she is now with other family members and friends.

Paula Sackers is survived by her son, Gregory P. Sackers; her siblings, William McCartney, Pam McCartney, Vickie Barrick (Bob Richardson), Kevin Michael McCartney, Dorothy Christoff, and Cindy Miceli (Gus); stepbrother, Patrick Taylor (Deborah); sister-in-law, Janice Sackers; nieces and nephews, Courtney Friend (Sam) and her daughter, Tenley Barrick, Sean McCartney, Jennifer McCartney, Michael McCartney, Isaac Miller, Caleb Scaggs, and Nicole Miceli.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Ruth McCartney; stepfather, Shelby Christoff; stepmother, Martha McCartney; half-brother, Sean McCartney; stepbrother, Daniel Taylor; nephew, Andrew Rhineheimer; ex-husband, Steve Sackers; and father and mother-in-law, Pete and Marie Sackers.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road, Westfield. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared by visiting flannerbuchanan.com.
