Paul Albert Brown

December 31, 1921 – January 11, 2024

Paul Albert Brown, 102, Cicero, passed away on January 11, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on December 31, 1921, in Indianapolis to Paul and Blanche (Dunn) Brown.

He attended Indianapolis schools, graduating from Shortridge High School and then furthering his education he graduated from Butler University-Jordon College of Music. He then enlisted in the United States Army prior to World War II. Paul was TEC 3, Signal Corps, 3187th Signal Service Battalion, serving in England, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He achieved Rifle Expert and three Bronze Stars.

Paul married Natalie (Ratliff) Brown May 6, 1943, prior to his deployment and they were married 66 years.

After serving his country honorably, he returned home to finish his bachelor’s degree in music education. Following graduation, he became the orchestra and dance band director at Broad Ripple High School where he taught for 35 years.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Natalie, and his parents Blanche and Paul E. Brown.

He is survived by his twin daughters, Nancy Keys and Patty Creech; granddaughter, Angela Keys; grandson, Paul Creech; four grandchildren, two granddaughters, and five step-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on January 19, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 Jackson St., Cicero. A private burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis at a later date.
