Parents can learn more about Fishers Police Explorer Program at next month’s open house

The Fishers Police Explorer Program will host an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the Fishers Police Department, 4 Municipal Drive. There will be displays and personnel from each FPD division, snacks and information regarding the 2019-20 Explorer Program.

The purpose of the Fishers Police Exploring Program is to provide Fishers area youth between the ages of 14 and 19 with information about a law enforcement career through hands-on experiences, tours, guest speakers, and discussions. The Fishers Police Explorers meet twice a month during the school year with additional volunteer and ride along opportunities throughout the year.

The open house is designed to acquaint youth and parents with the program, answer questions, and introduce officers from the Fishers Police Department associated with the program. Schedules, topics and details will also be covered. Parking is available in the parking garage attached to the department or in the parking lot located across the street. Parents are welcome and encouraged, but not required, to attend.

There is no obligation to join the post at the open house. If youth do decide to join, registration and payment need to be submitted prior to or at the first meeting. The cost of registration is $60 which fully covers the entire year. Make checks payable to Fishers Police Department.

Anyone interested can sign up for the open house at this link or just come to the Police Department that evening.

The future of our youth is one of the best reasons to consider a law enforcement career option now.

Further details and schedules will be given at the open house. For questions prior to the open house or for anyone interested but unable to attend on Sept. 10, email Allison Nicholson at nicholsona@fishers.in.us.
