Sheridan saw its season come to an end on Friday, as the Blackhawks fell to Park Tudor 26-7 in a Class 1A Sectional 46 first-round game at Bud Wright Stadium.
Sheridan scored its touchdown in the second quarter, with Jalen Herron making a four-yard run to the end zone. Owen Bell made the extra-point kick, and that gave the ‘Hawks a 7-6 lead at halftime. But the Panthers scored in the third quarter, then ran away in the fourth with two more touchdowns.
“We just didn’t play very good at times,” said Sheridan coach Bud Wright. “We had opportunities, we just didn’t get it done.” The coach said that during the first period, “we had golden opportunities three different times to score,” but couldn’t get in the end zone.
Peyton Cross led the Blackhawks’ rushing with 73 yards, followed by Gavin Reners with 62 yards and Herron with 53.
Sheridan finished its season 7-3. That record includes a Hoosier Heartland Conference championship, its first since the 2018 season.
“I think we did get some things done,” said Wright, who completed his 56th season as the Blackhawks’ coach.
