Pancakes, sweet way to kick off fire prevention

This year, Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 8 to 14. Each October, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) sponsors a fire prevention campaign highlighting the importance of fire safety education. That’s why the Noblesville Fire Department (NFD) continues to team up with NFPA to remind residents of safety tips. The 2017 Fire Prevention Week Campaign is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”

NFD kicks off Fire Prevention Week with an (All You Can Eat) Pancake Breakfast from 7 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7. The event is held at the downtown Noblesville Fire Department, located at 135 S. 9th St.

NFD encourages all citizens to perform a fire inspection of their homes. Be sure your home or rental property is equipped with working smoke detectors on each level, or have your property monitored by a fire protection system. By equipping your home or rental property with an early notification device and paying attention to potential fire hazards in your home, you can make a difference that will last a lifetime and reduce injuries, deaths and property loss. During your fire inspection, identify two ways out of every room in your home.

NFD’s first line of defense against fire loss and other public risk is through our Fire Prevention Programs. We strongly believe prevention of fires is far more cost effective and beneficial to our citizens than suppression efforts after a fire occurs.

NFD encourages local residents to come out Saturday, Oct. 7 and enjoy the pancakes, fire trucks, a fire safety trailer, learn about smoke detectors and much more.
