Pamela Greco

August 23, 1955 – September 23, 2020

Pamela Greco, 65, Helena, Ala., formerly of Fishers, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala. She was born on August 23, 1955 to Frank and Grace (Mauro) Lofaso in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her parents precede her in death.

Pam was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. Even working full time, she regularly pulled off culinary feats while being active in her children’s lives. She was intelligent and well-educated, especially quick witted and kind – traits that live on in her children. Her forthright and outgoing demeanor enabled her to make friends easily; it took little time to get to know and like her. She was respectful of others’ opinions but never hesitated to let people know where she stood.

She was a wonderful cook and often surprised her family with a creative dish, and while every new attempt came with the reassuring disclaimer, “Don’t worry – we can always order a pizza,” it was rarely needed. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and the variety of her mouth-watering Christmas cookies covered every kitchen surface as she recruited her children into little icing-elves. Her favorite store was Macy’s. She quite possibly kept Macy’s in business single-handedly; though, with her expert use of coupons and sales, she always maintained that she saved more than she spent – a rationale her husband (even after four decades of patient mathematical explanations) could never understand.

She mastered the skill of internet research early on (even besting her children) because she saw the web as another kind of shopping. She could find information or bargains in the blink of an eye.

Among her many accomplishments was a successful career at Roche Diagnostics. She rose from a temp worker to a quality control specialist – a key position she executed with excellence. She was highly regarded by her colleagues for her expertise, her initiative, and her genuine care both for the quality of the end product and for her co-workers. She referred to several of her Roche family as “work sons” and “work daughters,” and they reciprocated with a genuine love and respect for that “fast-talking” New Yorker they all felt privileged to know.

Her love and devotion to her family may be matched by some but surpassed by none. She was the better half of a perfect couple she made with Michael, her husband of 40 years; she never complained while he moved her around the country. The little girl who never planned to leave where she grew up in Ozone Park, Queens adapted quickly to moving to the “boonies” of Merrick, N.Y.; Freehold, N.J.; Fishers, Ind.; and Helena, Ala. Never hesitant, she would always say to him “I’ll follow you anywhere” (even when that meant moving to a place that put pasta in the “ethnic food” aisle). Her home was wherever he was. One will have to look far and wide to find two people more in love and devoted to one another. (And now my love, it is I who will follow you. I will miss you terribly and love you every minute of every day, as I have always, until I take my last breath on this earth, and then we will be together again).

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Michael Greco; daughter, Michelle Greco, and son-in-law, Jeffrey Weimer; son, Matthew Greco; and siblings, Jack Lofaso, Judy Holzhey and Sandy Lofaso. She will be deeply missed.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road, Fishers. Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Eulogies were read by daughter Michelle, son Matthew, and husband Michael, with a time for others to share their stories following The family requests that all those wishing to pay their respects wear a mask.
