Fishers beats Crispus Attucks at Forum Tip-off Classic

The Fishers boys basketball team won a battle of No. 1-ranked teams last Saturday at the Forum Tip-off Classic at Southport.
The Class 4A No. 1 Tigers beat 3A No. 1 Crispus Attucks 70-55. Fishers got off to a good start, leading 20-11 after the first quarter. Nathan Baker hit two 3-pointers for six points. Attucks made a comeback in the second period, cutting Fishers’ lead to 30-24 by halftime.
But the Fishers Tigers got their offense going in the second half, pouring in 20 points each in the third and fourth quarters. Justin Kirby added six points in the third period. Jason Gardner took over the game in the fourth period, scoring 11 points.
Gardner was Fishers’ leading scorer with 18 points, one of four Tigers in double figures. Cooper Zachary, Kirby and Baker all finished with 11 points. Zachary and Gardner, the two sophomores, scored in each quarter. Millen McCartney made three triples for nine points, while JonAnthony Hall scored eight.
Fishers is 5-0 and plays two games this weekend. First, the Tigers travel to the Fishers Events Center on Friday to play Hamilton Southeastern in the Mudsock game. After that, Fishers returns to the Tiger Den on Saturday to play Shortridge.
