The City of Carmel announced that the 2021 Tokyo Olympics will be broadcast on the Big Screen at Midtown Plaza.
According to city officials, WTHR-TV granted permission to the city to once again show the Olympic Games as in previous years; however, this will be the first Olympics at Midtown.
The broadcast will focus mostly on prime time coverage aired each night on NBC. There may be nights when the city will feature something different – for example, the Pacers/NBA Draft on Thursday, July 29. Carmel may also show some select daytime sports coverage.
As always, dangerous weather conditions might force city officials to shut the screen down.
City officials noted Monday’s Movie at Midtown schedule will change to accommodate the Games. The last showing of the movie will begin at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. so that live prime time Olympic Games coverage on NBC can be broadcasted.
