Olympic coach to host free diving clinics next week

Olympic diving coach John Wingfield will be hosting three free diving clinics next week in Hamilton County.

The first clinic takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Westfield YMCA/Natatorium, 874 Virginia Rose Ave., at the intersection of 181st Street and Wheeler Road. Two more clinics are set for Saturday, Aug. 17: the first will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Noblesville High School pool, with the second from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hamilton Southeastern High School pool.

All participants will receive a free t-shirt and the chance to meet Wingfield. Bring your own swimsuit and towel.

Wingfield is the CEO and Head Coach of RipFest, a local diving club. Wingfield coached divers at the 2024 Paris, 2020 Tokyo and 2008 Beijing Olympic games and was named the 2009 United States Olympic Committee Developmental Coach of the Year for all Olympic and Pan Am sports. He has received the USOC’s Coach of the Year honor five different times (2006, 07, 08, 09, 11) and is a two-time USOC Order of Ikkos recipient, in 2012 and 2016.
