Marilyn’s Place Incorporated (MPI), 1106 S. 8th St., Noblesville, is a new non-profit that identifies itself as a non-food pantry.

“We have all worked very hard to get MPI up and running and are looking forward to serving all of Hamilton County and surrounding communities,” MPI Founder and Board President Glenn Conn said.

Conn calls MPI a “non-food pantry” because they give clothing, hygiene products and cleaning supplies instead of food. He says MPI will provide this service 52 weeks a year.

MPI is an all-volunteer, donation-based 501(c)(3) organization that provides free work and weather appropriate clothing, shoes, socks, bedding, coats, toiletries, cleaning supplies and other donated items for persons in need of assistance.

Food and water are survival necessities, and according to Conn, Hamilton County has a well-founded network of food pantries to assist residents meet those needs.

“Weather/work/school appropriate clothing, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies are quality of life necessities,” Conn said. “So are dignity and self-esteem. That’s why we designed Marilyn’s Place Non-Food Pantry to provide the commodities clients need in a way that’s as close to a normal shopping experience as possible, including a budget and freedom of choice over what to buy as well as the brand, size, flavor, form, etc. But instead of cash our clients ‘pay’ with MPNFP voucher points.”

According to the MPI website, the qualification policy and process is, “simple, objective [based on poverty and/or living wage standards], and necessary to ensure our ability to help those truly needing assistance and choosing products for personal use rather than profit.”

Requests for assistance are reviewed without regard to the race, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual preference, or any other personal characteristic or belief of any applicant. Group vouchers are not subject to any marital, cohabitation, blood relation, or other such restrictions.

If you would like to help MPI pay their operating expenses, all donations to the organization are tax-deductible. You can donate through the PayPal link at marilynsplaceinc.org, or by visiting in person at 1106 S. 8th St., Noblesville.

  1. So we could donate clothes, purses, shoes to you instead of Goodwill??

  2. What type of non-monetary donations are you currently accepting?

  3. Same question as Kim. Do you accept non cash donations such as clothing. I have clothing I can provide rather than taking it to Goodwill.

    • Thanks for asking! We always need gently pre-owned work, weather, and school appropriate clothing (including shoes) and unopened hygiene and cleaning products for our direct-to-clients inventory.

We also appreciate donations of anything we don’t give away but can be sold to raise operating funds so we can keep a roof over the client inventory.

We are particularly in need of “donate to sell/shop to donate” items for our August Salebration coming up the 28th and 29th of this month.

  4. We would like to thank everyone who has donated and who has inquired about donating clothing and other non-food items to Marilyn’s Place. Without your interest and support, we wouldn’t be able to move forward and help persons in need.
Because of this overwhelming and much appreciated response, we are in dire need of volunteers to help us sort and organize clothing items.
If you would like to help, please email us: info@marilynsplaceinc.org or call: 317.219.5449
    Thank you
    Glenn C.

  5. Our family would like to donate. Are the donations accepted at your location? We would much rather donate to the local community instead of a “non profit” like Goodwill or the Salvation Army.
