Tuesday night’s regular-season finale for the Noblesville girls basketball team started slow, but it didn’t take long for the Millers to force their way on the visiting Arabians.
The offense got going early and often and they kept their foot on the gas to keep their momentum going in a 78-40 win over Pendleton Heights.
The Millers got off to a 25-18 lead through one quarter, thanks to 11 from Ava Shoemaker and six from Meredith Tippner to almost equal the Arabians’ output.
Noblesville shifted into another gear in the second period. It put together a 33-9 domination for a commanding 58-27 halftime lead.
It would be a 20-13 score in the final two quarters, with a running clock late in the third, as the Millers put the exclamation point on their regular season with a 78-40 victory.
Noblesville shot well all night. It was 11 for 24 from outside-the-arc for 46 percent and shot 56 percent overall from the floor.
Tippner led all scorers with 19 points and she also snagged nine boards and had five steals.
Ava Shoemaker had 18 points and was lights-out from outside, knocking down 5-for-6 three-point attempts. Reagan Wilson was solid with 17 points and just shy of a double-double with nine assists.
Kaitlyn Shoemaker added seven points and five assists, while Dani Mendez chipped in six and Carly Motz four off the bench.
Noblesville (21-3) drew the bye and will play in the first semifinal in Class 4A sectional 8 at The Mill in Noblesville. It plays the winner of the first-round matchup of Carmel and Fishers.
