A man and a woman were in critical condition at an Indianapolis hospital after a serious crash Friday afternoon west of Alexandria, the Madison County sheriff said.
The single-car crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on County Road North 200 West between State Road 28 and West 1100 North (West Washington Street), and a crash team arrived at the scene about 5 p.m., Sheriff Scott Mellinger and Sheriff’s Office Operations Commander David Callahan said in an email.
The driver, Bridget M. Abbott, 32, Noblesville, was in critical condition Friday night with two broken arms and a broken leg. The passenger, Jason Scott Noble, 31, Elwood, was in stable condition with facial fractures, two broken legs and a broken collarbone. Both were airlifted to St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital.
Callahan said evidence shows that a 2004 silver Chevrolet Cavalier was southbound on 200 West when the car went off the east side of the road, traveled about 20 yards and struck a tree.
Information from the sheriff’s office did not indicate how fast the car was going in the rural area.
