The Noblesville boys soccer team picked up a Monday win, beating Plainfield 1-0 on the road.
The Millers scored their goal in the first half, with Sam Holland making a penalty kick. Noblesville maintained control of the ball about 80 percent of the game, with the back line of Alex Pursch, Kasole Williams, Max Reason, Blake Horn and Jake Hall helping the Millers get several scoring opportunities, along with Ben Hewitt and Caden Rice.

On Tuesday, Noblesville beat Avon 6-0 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
Hewitt scored his first varsity goal in the 10th minute, with Holland making the assist. That would be the only goal of the first half.
The Millers poured it on in the second half with five goals. Holland scored off a Miles Tucker assist, then Tucker assisted a Rice goal. Pursch put in a rebound goal off a Reason free kick, then Tucker scored unassisted. Hewitt then added his second goal of the night, with Korey Klimek making the assist.
Noblesville will compete this weekend in the Midwest Showcase, taking on Rockford (Mich.) and New Albany (Ohio).

Westfield’s girls team beat New Palestine 4-0 on Monday.
Kate Malin, Sydney Mefford, Talia Whitesel and Ava Smith all scored one goal for the Shamrocks, who play an HCC game tonight at Franklin Central.

The Westfield boys team beat Franklin Central 1-0 Tuesday with a literal last-minute goal.
With 43 seconds left in the game, senior Oliver Smith sent a cross to junior Oliver Church, who put it in the back of the net.

Sheridan’s boys played their season opener on Tuesday at Mississinewa, falling 5-1.
The Indians scored two quick goals, then went up 3-0 at halftime. Mississinewa put in two more goals, but Tyler Garner helped the Blackhawks avoid the shutout when he kicked in a goal with 22 seconds left.
Goalkeeper Cayden Spencer made eight saves.
Sheridan plays Providence Cristo Rey at 7 p.m. tonight in its home opener.

Hamilton Southeastern’s boys played to a 4-4 tie with HCC opponent Brownsburg on Tuesday.
The Royals scored right away, with Gabe Russell putting a goal in during the first minute. Drew MacDonald made the assist. The Bulldogs scored three goals after that, but HSE’s Jack Anderson scored from 25 yards with 30 seconds left in the half to keep the Royals within 3-2.
Dillon O’Rourke tied the game with 23 minutes left in the second half on a sliding goal. Cruze Jafri made the assist. Southeastern took a 4-3 lead when Cade Joniec put in a header that came off a Keane Blackbourne corner kick with 10 minutes left. But Brownsburg’s Grant Porath tied the game three minutes later with a corner-kick goal, and that would be the last goal of the game.

University’s girls team beat Shortridge 5-1 on Tuesday in its Pioneer Conference opener.
The Trailblazers host Scecina on Thursday.
