Dear Editor:

Our beautiful and family-fun Christmas Parade is only the latest victim of Mayor Jensen.

Last Christmas, the “Christmas Tour” did a “drive by” in our little community, and it was a laughable joke. It had very few vehicles and passed in a matter of seconds! Common sense tells me the Christmas Parade with all the floats and people marching and handing out candy to the parade goers is great for the Noblesville merchants, and leaves everyone feeling happy – something we need a lot of in our sad world!

Unfortunately, our wonderful town, along with our Dairy Queen and many other small businesses and people’s homes, is falling to politicians such as Mayor Chris Jensen and the City Council who tell us “we want what is best for Noblesville citizens.” Oh really?! Then stop trying to make Noblesville into another Carmel or Fishers by leaving a path of destruction. The Mayor and City Council need to have their power taken away from them by “we the people” by going to the polls and voting each election period.

Since Mayor John Ditslear groomed Jensen and some of the Council members, the students have now surpassed the teacher in tearing down our town and creating something that ONLY they want while lining their pockets and increasing their power.

I understand that progress will happen to any town or city; however, when progress is more destructive than good on one man’s whims, then something needs to be reconsidered.

Noblesville, like other towns, needs more housing, but not housing that completely leaves us common people out in the cold by catering to the higher-paid consumer. If you notice the announcements for new housing, the apartments are always described as “luxury.” My question is: where are these highly paid consumers coming from and how are you going to deal with the added traffic issues right here in town? The Pleasant Street debacle will not correct that traffic overture. It seems Mayor Jensen and his cronies are creating another problem which could possibly cause more of our town to be demolished or reconfigured!

Everything does not have to be built within the city limits. New housing could be more effectively built in the surrounding perimeters of the city; close, but not stifling our in-town, small businesses who are already suffering from the two-hour parking fiasco for all the remaining merchants. It appears, Mayor Jensen does not care about the merchants or businesses of Noblesville and whether or not they stay open.

REMEMBER: Go to the polls and VOTE. Our beautiful town and its loyal families are at risk of being lost forever to those who do not value history or family!

Linda is spot on. I just have no confidence in local voters caring enough to make an informed vote, or care enough to vote at all. With a bloated amount of city, county, school, and all their families block voting for more spending, what do you expect but more taxes. Votes control the spending and with so many public employees and their families that include Police, fire, street, court, health, school, and many other public employees, citizens are outnumbered. Mayoy Jensens 13Plus percent budget increase says it all. We must question his moral compass and not be blinded by his smooth family character, but remember he is a longtime professional political operative dating back to a former Governor.

Thank you, Byron. The truth always stands.
