Noblesville to close portion of 19th Street this coming Tuesday to being roundabout construction

As part of the ongoing conversion of the 19th and Pleasant streets intersection into a roundabout, workers will close 19th Street from Pleasant Street to Mulberry Street on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The closure is anticipated to last 21 days.

This will allow workers to construct the north half of the roundabout. During the closure, a temporary driveway to the United States Postal Service facility will be created from Pleasant Street. Outbound traffic will still utilize the existing Pleasant Street driveway.

The overall project will cost approximately $1 million, but because of funding received from the Indiana Department of Transportation, the City of Noblesville’s portion is $194,284.

Approximately 15,000 vehicles travel through the intersection daily. The existing three-leg intersection with 19th Street under stop control will be converted to a single lane roundabout – providing vehicles with safer and more efficient travel at that location. Lighting and sidewalks also will be installed.
