Noblesville receives excellence in financial reporting award

The City of Noblesville has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting in recognition of the city’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This is the 19th consecutive year that the city has received the honor.

The Certificate of Achievement is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada and is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“The city received its first recognition in 1988,” said Mayor John Ditslear. “I want to thank former clerk-treasurer Janet S. Jaros and O.W. Krohn and Associates for helping to build the tradition started in 1999 and continued to this day by subsequent controllers Mike Hendricks and Jeff Spalding.”

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential user groups to read the report.

“The CAFR is a fair and accurate reporting of how much money the city has and its major financial obligations. It provides transparency to financial markets and prospective developers and exists mainly to better position the city to attract private investment,” Spalding said.
