Dear Editor:
There is no way I am voting for Susan Byer for Treasurer.
After getting fired from her job as a clerk in the Treasurer’s office, she made false allegations against my daughter, Kim Good, and also against me and my husband. Rather than take personal responsibility for her actions, I guess she thought it would be cute to drag our family name through the mud.
Whether you believe Byer’s story or not, the facts are that two judges have ruled against her, she has no management experience and hasn’t even had a job for the past 2 ½ years.
She complained in the paper about unreasonable demands for accuracy and promptness in the Treasurer’s office, about horrible working conditions like cell phone restrictions, and has remarked that she will rely on clerks to teach her the job of Treasurer.
The Democratic candidate, Jake Madore, is currently a tax manager for a local corporation and has stated that he will rely on the guidance of former Hamilton County Treasurers by retaining them to his staff. Byer wants to rid the office of experienced professionals she considers enemies rather than looking out for the best interests of the taxpayers.

Charlotte, I am sorry you feel the pain of all of this but the fact is Kim and Jennifer started this whole thing by making accusations about Susan that were not truthful. Then thought the employees would back their story and not come forward with information proving Susans innocence. We could no longer stay silent. This was a cat fight that should Of ended day one. But that is not how that office operates. It is do or die in that office for the past three years. We had no voice unless we wanted reprimanded. Until the investigations started. Then we had to tell the truth. If Jake is elected just for the paycheck and keeps Kim and Jennifer then things like this will continue to occur. More law suits may follow.
To Saddened by the whole thing! From what I read Susan made the accusations that ended up being untrue. As a supervisor myself, why don’t the employees follow the rules and maybe then there won’t be any issues. Also, It seems like you are making assumptions that Jake is only doing this for the paycheck. I’m sure you just made that up. I say bring the lawsuits on. Remember you don’t have to have a reason to fire someone.
Hamilton County’s attorneys disagree with the anonymous commenter‘s reply. Here is what the attorneys said to Byer:
“In performing the duties of your position, Deputy Treasurer/Bankruptcy/Lender Clerk, you are trusted with access to taxpayer records and the taxpayer record keeping computer database as a criticai function of your job. You owe your employer a reasonable duty to follow the directives of the Treasurer to compiy with the County and State mandated internal control policies. You gave property tax information to third parties, knowingly violating the Hamilton County Treasurer’s policy on this subject. You amended tax statements to redirect funds that were relevant to tax 5-29~07~A‘. You were not honest about your actions when questioned by your employer. You continued to violate various work rules repeatedly and received multiple reprimands. Your actions have forever damaged the Treasurer’s trust in your ability to perform the critical functions necessary as an employee of the Hamilton County Treasurer’s office.
Therefore, your employment with Hamiiton County is hereby terminated effective
Tuesday, March 27, 201 8, due to continued violations of uniformly enforced work rules of Hamilton County.“
Fabricated disciplinary actions resulting in termination of employment aren’t necessarily facts and in this particular case, where not facts.
When the rules change daily just for to meet the narcissistic demands of a supervisor who is trying to set a person up to fall then then you see what happens. Susan was saving a taxpayers money. The next day after Susan was fired the rule changed again to not charge a dollar to homeowners paying with their Trust Accounts. So the rules of the office are always in question when someone is trying to set a person up to get fired. It is still going on thats why it is important to elect Elect Susan Byer as our next Treasurer . She will maintain a good relationship with Taxpayers, Realtors and Title companies and lenders so that no homeowners find out they still have a dollar delinquent on their tax bill due to our office rules changing daily! Thank You!
