Dear Editor:
As part of my Sunday ritual, I brew a cup of coffee and then settle in with the Sunday Indianapolis Star, which has increasingly become an advocacy piece rather than a newspaper.
Today, the entire first section was dominated by two stories: 1) A story on failure of red flag laws to stop familial shootings; and 2) De-populating prisons to county jails with disappointing results because of alleged mental health problems of the jail population.
Next, I opened my computer and came across the Hamilton County Reporter’s column by Sheridan High School’s Pearl Henderson, which was better written and more informative than anything the Star conjured up. I hope that she sticks with career choices that involve analysis and communication, because she has skills and insights that are rare today.
