Noblesville premiers Mary Resler concert series

The Noblesville Cultural Arts Commission will honor the late Mary Resler on Sunday, July 15, 2018 as they officially rename the annual concert series.

The dedication ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Federal Hill Commons at the start of the concert featuring the Indianapolis Symphonic Band. All are invited to attend the dedication and free concert in Mary’s honor.

Mary Resler, a dedicated NCAC board member for many years, founded the concert series 25 years ago. The concerts were held in Seminary Park until moving to Federal Hill Commons in 2017.

“Mary’s passion for sharing her love of music with the community has touched so many lives,” said NCAC President Joni Corbett. “We are pleased to honor her legacy by renaming the concert series she founded.”

Supported by sponsorships, the concert series is offered to the community free of charge on Sunday evenings in July and August, and features concert, big band and popular music in an informal atmosphere. The Noblesville Lions Club offers hamburgers, brats, chips and more at affordable prices. Families should bring a blanket or lawn chairs.

About the Noblesville Cultural Arts Commission

The Noblesville Cultural Arts Commission was created by Mayor Mary Sue Rowland in September 1992. Under the direction of Jane Campbell, the commission, then called the “Minister of Culture,” organized the first event in May 1993. Law Day was a program that used theater to teach children about the courtroom process through fairy tales. July 1993 saw the first Shakespeare in the Park production: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. That first year also saw poetry readings, art displays and band concerts in Seminary Park. For nearly a decade, the commission sponsored the Summer Art Fair on the Square. As the arts culture in Noblesville has evolved, the Cultural Arts Commission has evolved with it. Noblesville has a new Arts District Designation and NCAC plays a vital role.
