Dear Editor:
I have noticed many letters of strong support for Christi Crosser, Stephanie Lambert, and Brett Richardson (CLR) for Noblesville School Board.
I want to add mine to the growing stack and speak from the perspective of a Noblesville parent. Specifically, I am a single working mom with young adults who have grown up in this school system – one who recently graduated, another who is a sophomore.
Maybe you have noticed the mural on our garage door in Old Town Noblesville. It reads “Open Books Open Minds” and it features my favorite titles that are commonly banned across the U.S. This work of art sums up my position on quality education – it relies upon open mindedness. Most of the people I know in this town feel the same, including our own outstanding teachers.
We need open-minded school board members who will support the hard work that our teachers, administrators, and school staffers do in this community. I don’t want to imagine a situation where our district isn’t enthusiastically supported from the top.
As a parent, I also want a school board that will be innovative, strategic, and visionary and one that will seek constant progress for our students. Crosser, Lambert, and Richardson are the people we need for this job!
Here are just a few specific areas where our A-rated school system already excels:
- State leader in workforce development
- Honors for educational technology
- National STEM awards
- National honors in performing arts
- National AP recognitions
- Award-winning educators
- Workplace recognition
- Millions in scholarships and advance college credit for our students
I want this excellence to continue, so I will vote for open minds. I will vote for CLR.
