Earlier in the day, NPD and FPD officers began receiving a number of complaints of potential fraud occurring in both Noblesville and Fishers. It was reported that several checks had been cashed at local banks after the recipient’s name and dollar amount had been altered. Officers worked with area banks and an informational bulletin was disseminated throughout the area warning of the suspicious activity. Alert employees of Star Financial Bank became suspicious when the alleged suspects came to their location and attempted to make a transaction. Bank officials responded by contacting the police.

The United States Postal Inspection Services is also a part of this ongoing investigation.

Investigators are encouraging citizens to be attentive to their bank records, especially transactions that occurred over the past couple of days. If you notice any inconsistencies with your records, please contact Detective David Barnes at (317) 776-6371.
