Starting Monday, March 1, the Noblesville Fire Department (NFD) will begin administering vaccines to at-risk, hard to reach, or otherwise immobile or homebound individuals as part of the Homebound Hoosier EMS Vaccine Administration Program. The program is a cooperative public health effort within Indiana.
“Individuals who are unable to leave their homes and are eligible to be vaccinated should do so in order to protect themselves, visitors and other direct support providers,” said Mayor Chris Jensen. “I’m excited that our city’s fire department has the programming and resources in place to offer this service free of charge to our at-risk residents.”
The Hamilton County Health Department (HCHD) has partnered with local Emergency Medical Services providers to administer the COVID-19 vaccination to Homebound Hoosiers. NFD will use its Community Resources Paramedics to administer the COVID-19 vaccination to homebound Noblesville residents who have made arrangements with the HCHD to receive the vaccine. Currently, Noblesville has 16 residents on the list for vaccination.
“We are fortunate in Noblesville to have resources available, like a Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program to reach people in need within our community,” NFD Division Chief of EMS James Macky said.
The Homebound Hoosier Program is an Indiana Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA) initiative. Hamilton County resides in FSSA Area 8. Noblesville residents who are homebound are encouraged to reach out to the HCHD to schedule an in-home vaccination by calling (317) 776-8500 or 211 for help.
