Noblesville Fire Department’s (NFD) crews responded to two separate fires in less than 12 hours Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.

The first fire was dispatched as a possible lightning strike at 3:41 p.m. Monday. NFD responded to the residence fire at 554 N. 18th St. The first crews to arrive reported smoke inside the home. Firefighters were able to make an aggressive interior attack and quickly extinguish the fire inside the walls. The homeowner heard the lightning strike and began to smell smoke minutes later.

All residents were able to safely evacuate and call 911. NFD was assisted by the Noblesville Police Department (NPD).

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, NFD was dispatched to Waste Management on a possible commercial fire at 11735 Greenfield Ave. Heavy smoke was seen from a passing vehicle. The driver called 911 to report the blaze. The first arriving units were met with heavy smoke in the area originating at the Waste Management substation. Crews were able to quickly deploy large diameter supply lines and use multiple master streams to bring the fire under control.

The cause of the fire has not been released at this time. NFD was assisted by NPD and the Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency.
