Noblesville falls to sixth-ranked Avon

Noblesville had a tough assignment on Friday: Playing Class 6A No. 6 Avon at the Orioles’ field.
Avon made it a long night for the Millers, who lost 57-7. With the win, the Orioles clinched a share of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference title. Noblesville finished its regular season at 1-8.
The Millers scored their touchdown in the third quarter in a big way: Ryan Barnes connected with Zach Gruver for an 80-yard passing score. Jack Knight provided the extra-point kick. Gruver finished with three catches on the night totaling 90 yards, while Barnes was 3-for-8 from the air and totaled 103 yards.
While Noblesville’s defense had to deal with an Avon offense that’s averaging 43.4 points per game, the Millers did get a couple good plays, blocking an extra point and stopping a two-point conversion try in the first half.
