The 11th annual Comic Book in a Day Challenge, hosted by Noblesville Creates and co-hosted by the Hamilton East Public Library in Fishers, was a huge success.
The event featured the opportunity to create a comic book from scratch in just eight hours with the help of Featured Artists, including Jackie Crofts, Stuart Sayger, Gavin Smith, returning champion Brianna Stevens, and additional staff.
Throughout the day of the event, 65 artists participated in the Challenge, creating a combined total of 217 pages of artwork. In addition, 355 guests stopped by the Ignite Studio space to check out the Challenge.
The participants had a blast working on their individual comics, learning from the Featured Artists, participating in fun comic-themed activities, shopping from the Featured Artists’ booths, and mingling with the other participants.
The activities, supplies, and other amenities for participants were made possible by these generous sponsors: Browning Day, MacInnis Construction, Blick Art Materials, Four Day Ray, and co-host Hamilton East Public Library. At the end of the event, each artist was given an opportunity to present their comic to the Featured Artists, staff, and visitors.
The comics created by the participants were judged by the Featured Artists, who determined the winners of each award category. The award ceremony was held on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Hamilton East Public Library in Fishers, during which each award winner was announced and given a prize.
